ROUSSEL Bacchus et Ariane Suite No. 2
Evolving from a ballet to an orchestral piece, Suite No. 2 premiered in Paris in 1934 and became known for its powerful climactic finale.

DEBUSSY La Mer
After leaving Paris to compose this musical tribute to the sea, Claude Debussy returned in 1905 to premiere these three “symphonic sketches” that capture both the tranquility and the capricious violence of nature.
RAVEL Daphnis et Chloe Suite No. 2
Maurice Ravel lived and studied in Paris and premiered this ballet there in 1912. Stravinsky called this “one of the most beautiful products of all French music.”
GERSHWIN An American in Paris
George Gershwin captured the spirit of Paris in the '20s as only Gershwin could, filling his work with strong melodies, energetic street sounds, and a hint of American blues.
