Volunteer with the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra League!

The League has numerous opportunities for people of all ages to volunteer with enjoyable and rewarding activities.

The Symphony Office is located on the second floor of the DePaul building.  For directions, click here.  Off-street parking is available.

We are currently seeking volunteer to help us for our New Year’s Eve concert! The Symphony is performing Cirque de la Symphonie on December 31st at 7pm at American Music Theater on Route 30. We need volunteers for 1-4 hour shifts throughout the day. Duties include:

• Assemble Champaign flutes: 1-5 PM

• Stuff programs with appropriate materials: 1-5 PM

• Hand out programs before New Year’s Eve (12/31/2011) performance: 7-7:30 PM

• Set-up 7 champagne stations with linens, champagne flutes and signs denoting “Alcoholic/Non-Alcoholic.” (6:30–6:50 PM)

• Remove champagne from refrigerators at concession stands and begin to pop champagne bottles. One volunteer will transport champagne bottles to stations by cart. (7:55–8:10 PM)

• Pour champagne and sparkling grape juice into glasses 2/3 full, starting at center and working out to edge. Monitor for spills and other messes. Make sure Palm Bay Imports sponsor info is prominently displayed at each table. (8:10 – 8:30 PM)

• Stand near champagne stations and encourage people to move along both sides of tables. Circulate trays to remove empty glasses, or indicate closest trash can. (8:10-8:30 PM)

• Crowd Control: volunteers to direct audience. (8:10–8:30 PM)
 
• Clean up and tear down of tables. Bag linens to return to LSO. Put trash, bagged linens and empty bottles near concession stand to right of lobby. (After 8:30 PM)

• Hand out programs before Matinee (1/2/2012) performance. (1:30-2 PM)

As a thank you for helping us on this big night, every volunteer will receive a complementary ticket to see our January 2nd 2pm matinee performance of Cirque de la Symphonie!

Musician Hospitality
Throughout the year, our fine musicians need to have their batteries recharged with snacks, lunch, or dinner.  Servers are needed to help at each of these occasions! 

Office Administration
The Symphony Office is open year round, and your help preparing mailings, invitations, and surveys would be much appreciated.  Computer skills are not necessary but are welcomed.  Parking is available. 

Special Events
The Symphony's special events include From the Top Auction, Symphony Salutes, the Composer's Award Luncheon, New Year's Eve Celebration, and various other fund raisers. 

Symphony Gift Boutique
The Symphony's Gift Boutique is open at the Fulton Opera House on performance weekends.  Help is needed prior to each performance and at intermission. 

Sound Discovery Activities
Volunteer ushers are needed at each Open Rehearsal with Lido and at the Music Discovery performances at McCaskey High School. 


Internships
The Lancaster Symphony Orchestra is a unique nonprofit organization which provides experience to anyone wanting a career in the arts. The Symphony offers unpaid internships to college students throughout the year. 

Senior Projects
High School seniors working on senior projects are welcome to include the Lancaster Symphony in the efforts. Opportunities are limited depending on the size and scope of the project.
